Shaping the future of chiral nanomaterials and why it matters
CHIRALNANOMAT is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network bringing together leading universities and companies across Europe to train 13 PhD researchers in the design, characterisation and application of chiral metal nanoclusters materials with unique optical, chemical and biological properties.
These materials hold the potential to transform how we design catalysts, sensors and functional surfaces, while equipping a new generation of scientists with highly interdisciplinary skills.

PROJECTS
Thirteen projects, one shared ambition
CHIRALNANOMAT foresees the training of the 13 DCs with the corresponding 13 interlinked DC projects spanning 8 academic institutions and 5 industrial partners in 8 countries in Europe. The DCs will carry out the corresponding project, aiming at their academic PhD degree, over a three-year period under the supervision of (at least) two cross-network PIs with complementary expertise, one acting as the main supervisor and the other as co-supervisor.
Together with mobility within the network and complementary training in industry, this will provide the DCs with knowledge on how to fabricate nanomaterials, understand their properties through various characterization techniques and theoretical calculations, and develop steps for their application. The innovative environment in academic centres and in industry will provide the opportunity to exchange knowledge and technology, engaging all DCs in a multidisciplinary and motivating context that will open the possibility to learn new concepts from different perspectives.
